Emily (the super talented copywriter behind Houston-based Pen & Purpose) and I were introduced through one of my favorite networking groups, and we immediately connected over our shared love for teaching fitness classes (any fellow barre addicts?!)! She genuinely LOVES what she does, and when she mentioned rebranding to better fit her ideal clientele, I was so honored to help!
Utilizing her background in traditional marketing and PR, Emily started Pen & Purpose with the intention of serving larger corporations, ranging from energy companies to law firms. However, a few years into it, she realized a shift and yearned to work with more creatives like herself, who need more than just “good sounding copy.” What makes Emily’s approach to copy SO unique is her metric-based philosophy, which deliver measurable, actionable results that convert your customers.
Taking her ideal client into consideration, I wanted to make a BIG departure from her former brand, which was structured, professional, and soothing. Instead, I looked to bright, confident colors, playful design elements, and punctuation for inspiration, knowing they would all make a bold impact on her audience. For her logo, I utilized a bold, sans-serif design to add a modern appeal with ample versatility. Further enhancing the playful design, her brand patterns serve as a sort of celebratory note - after all, grammar can be fun! ;)
