Eek!! I have been absolutely DYING to show off the brand development for this Houston online boutique brand from the moment Brittany approached me to help her design it, and the day is finally here! I mentioned this before, but one of my favorite aspects of this job is the way it has reconnected me to so many old friends and colleagues! Brittany and I were actually in the same sorority in college, and while our lives have taken us all over the place, I’m so thankful this project allowed us to spend a little time catching up!
Brittany (also known as the blogger behind “The Britt Kit”) has killer style, and I'm perpetually jealous of her ability to put pieces together that just WORK. She’s always dreamed of owning her own boutique, and like the go-getter she is, Brittany decided to tackle this project while 8 months pregnant! Now, with a sweet little babe in tow, she’s making it official and opening the doors to the Bee Boutique later this summer. Her goal is to provide trendy, yet affordable, looks for women just like her to help them feel confident and like their best self.
For her design, I wanted to create an aesthetic that would reflect the fun, easy, cheerful, and trend-forward appeal of her overall style. Never overly feminine but instead inspired by organic textures and relaxed fabrics, like your favorite pair of jeans. A slightly muted color palette of olive green, dusty blue, mustard yellow, and mauve pink breathes life into this brand, perfectly suited for an ideal client who shops at Madewell and Nordstrom, but still needs her “go-to” boutique for unique pieces.
While we wanted to steer clear of anything overtly “bee” related, I loved the idea of incorporating a unique take on rainbows for her brand, primarily because they represent cheerfulness and symbolize the Lord’s everlasting promise to us. They’re like a special gift when spotted, and they have the ability to restore a sense of child-like wonder in all of us. For her logo, I oped for a natural script typography, offset by her super fun, super rounded display font (which is officially my new favorite!).
I hope you loved this brand reveal as much as I enjoyed designing it! It’s too much fun when clients give me freedom to explore the possibilities. There’s more where this came from - check out a few other brand reveals below!
