I have essentially been counting down the hours until I could share the brand reveal for New Leaf, a Houston-Based Marketing and Social Media Agency, and the day has finally arrived! Lindsey is one of the most down-to-earth go-getters I’ve ever met, and working with her on this revamp was a total dream!
Like many of my local clients, we met at a Tuesday’s Together Houston meeting back in the summer. She had recently left her full-time job in pursuit of this exciting venture, and was ready to make the investment in something more substantial than her “plug and play” brand at the time. Long story short, we met for coffee, instantly connected over our love for color and a good cup of joe, and the rest is history!
Between her corporate background as a Social Media Manager for Whole Foods (um, yeah, she’s awesome) and her childhood spent on a farm, Lindsey knew from the start she was destined to work with the agricultural food + tourism industry. Every time she talks about her memories, her passion and spark for these clients is evident, and it was such an honor to transform some of that “zest” into a design!
When it came to inspiration, Lindsey and I both gravitated towards one common thing: COLOR and lots of it! We wanted her brand to feel energized, enlightened, and fresh - distinctly different from any local or regional competitors. Her mood board, in particular, draws on modified letter types, bright bursts of yellow + pinks, and nature-inspired florals and fruits. Because of Lindsey’s unique ideal client, we knew her brand needed to have a more obvious nod to agriculture, and we loved the vibrancy of a citrus theme.
While I truly adored all of the concepts I initially presented to Lindsey, I am SO thrilled with the final design. The typography selected has a slight vintage and mid-century modern feel to it, but what I adore the most is the unique curvature at the end of certain letters. Taking the tip of the letter ‘f',’ I modified it to resemble an actual leaf, symbolizing her client’s potential for fruitful growth under Lindsey’s expertise. It’s crisp and legible enough for those unfamiliar with the social world, but still eye-catching and noteworthy!
As you know, I truly believe a brand extends well beyond a single logo, and New Leaf is no exception. Taking the idea of an energizing citrus fruit, I (digitally) painted a few citrus elements for a custom brand pattern. It’s slightly feminine, evokes a sense of joy, and is just plain adorable, if I do say so myself! The little oranges represent her ability to re-invigorate a brand with juicy delight.
Lindsey also worked with me to design a set of custom icons for her web presence. Taking the line concept from her logo, I offset the color slightly to give it a slightly modern feel, while maintaining the overall consistency to her other brand elements.
All in all, this was one of my FAVORITE projects to date. Anything with color with always have my heart! If you are looking for a brand design or revamp of your own, I would absolutely love to talk with you! Feel free to drop a line and say hi at email@example.com!
